The von Trapp family home, loved by fans of The Sound of Music , is to
open its doors to the public as a hotel.
The move marks the latest chapter in the sometimes dark history of the villa,
near Salzburg, where the family lived until they fled the Nazis in 1938.
Their years in the house inspired one of the most successful films of all
time, in which an aspiring nun, played by Julie Andrews, charms the widower
Baron von Trapp and his seven children with her music.
"It's a hugely popular idea," said Christopher Unterkofler, who is
opening the hotel with his partner in July.
"There will be 14 rooms, from suites to singles, which are the actual
rooms of the von Trapp family. Fans will be able to walk where the von
Trapps walked, sleep where they slept."
Mr Unterkofler said that the rooms would be available from about £100, while
the wedding suite and ceremony would cost £600.
