| A suit is essentially a matched jacket and pant set. With so many options available, shopping for a suit can be daunting for the inexperienced shopper, but finding the perfect suit is easy once the choices are broken down.
On a college budget, price is usually discouraging; great options are available, though, in a reasonable price range. Express Design Studio, H&M and Calvin Klein each have great suits for about $250. GQ recently highlighted an $85 suit from Target’s Merona men’s line. Good suits do not need to be expensive.
Once you’re shopping, the first decision is color and pattern.
Navy is classic and traditional, and looks great with a multitude of shirt-and-tie choices.
Black suits are edgy and stylish when the fit is perfect and on the slim side. Black flatters everyone and works with the widest range of colors. It can also look the most formal.
Gray suits are sophisticated and always sharp. They are best in a medium tone, worn with white, pale blue or pink. Gray is versatile and a fresh alternative to the more common colors.
Khaki suits in cotton are perfect for spring and summer. The lighter color is great for the warmer seasons and looks stylish with a pale solid shirt and dark tie.
Pinstripes give a confidence and attitude that are missing from solid colors, but be aware that the fit has to be very modern to avoid looking like the Godfather. The best pinstriped color is navy, which updates a navy ... |
