State Sen. Scott Brown, R-Wrentham, will speak at the Quincy Republican Committee meeting at 7 p.m. Aug. 12. A conversation with the audience will follow Brown’s remarks in the second-floor community room at the Roche Bros. supermarket, 101 Falls Boulevard. This will be the group’s third meeting since March, when the committee elected officers. Brown will speak about his background as a Wrentham assessor and selectman. Quincy Republican Committee Chairwoman Jennifer McCauley Logue suggested inviting the senator, given his experience with grass-roots organizations. “This is the real-life experience that you need in a current legislature of a Democratic state,” Logue said. Brown has been a member of Massachusetts National Guard for 28 years and received the “Public Servant of the Year” award in 2004 from the United Chamber of Commerce, for his leadership in reforming the state's sex-offender laws and protecting the rights of victims.
