Yesterday was my 17th birthday and a really really great day! It started at midnight with the Susac tradition of everyone piling into my room to sing and wish me a happy birthday. I was just standing chatting with people when they decided that I had to go inside so they could burst it and surprise me. Stupid but funny! Then they attacked me with presents and cards - including all those that Mum and Dad brought from family and friends at home. I was ridiculously happy reading nice messages from home while surrounded by my friends here. Thanks so much to everyone who sent stuff out! People were singing happy birthday all day and the canteen people even gave me a hideously pink cake! In the evening a load of our people put on a variety show for the second years. The presenters were moronic but there were some really great acts... especially capoeria, ribbon stuff, theatre sports, Sara and Salam's arabic dance and a huge load of people with a great grease routine. Afterwards a group of us went out for a drink for my birthday... though communication broke down a bit and we ended up in two different places. Today I woke up with a load of crazy ideas about jumping on a plane, then about jumping on a bus but now I've decided to stay, at least today. I could have gone to UWC Adriatic in Italy but I really didn’t want to do MUN there and I couldn’t face the journey.
