The SPLL 12A All-Star team won the Rehoboth Tournament this weekend. SPLL fought through the heat of the weekend to beat Bridgewater, 18-2, in the championship game (third game of the day) to win the weekend tournament. In the game, SPLL banged out 20 hits and four homeruns. They were led by Devin Maguire . Devin pitched three strong innings striking out four. At the plate, he had three hits including a homerun and drove in four runs. He was named the star of the game. Others contributing to the win: Jimmy Brunone – three hits including a homerun and double and drove in three runs. Austin Houlihan – three hits including a homerun and drove in two runs. Devin Furtado – two hits including a homerun and drove in two runs. Austin Howie – three hits and drove in two runs. Mark Mineo – two hits. Brendan Beane , Jake Smith , Mitchell Peterson and Teddy Savage also had hits. On the mound Savage got the win throwing two scoreless innings with two strikeouts, and Beane threw the last inning to close out the game. In the tournament, SPLL outscored their opponents 46-10 while hitting 11 homeruns and hitting over .400 as a team. The pitching staff racked-up 42 strikeouts in 30 innings and the defense played great all weekend behind the pitchers. Recap on how SPLL got to the championship follows.
