  Jim Les and his Bradley coaching staff have had good success with the junior college players they’ve recruited. Witness the fivesome of Tony Bennett, Lawrence Wright, Zach Andrews, Will Franklin and Marcellus Sommerville — each of whom came to the Hilltop from a JC program and led the team to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen two years ago. And Theron Wilson was a terrific addition to last year’s club. But the departures the past couple of months of Tyrone Cole-Scott and Rashad Austin after just one season should give BU pause regarding the number of junior-college transfers on its roster. Those two were among a group of four incoming jucos last year (Wilson and David Collins were the others). With Matt Salley, that made five on the team. In my opinion, that’s too many. Junior college players enter a four-year school with a much different mentality than freshmen. It’s a mentality of urgency, knowing they have just two years left. With few exceptions, they expect to play and they expect to play now. Adding to that potentially explosive mixture is are adjustments to Division I, which often are difficult because of the much greater demands both on the court and in the classroom.
