An official with Joe Gibbs Racing would not confirm an internet report that 18-year old Middletown native Joey Logano will make his Sprint Cup Series debut in the Chevy Rock & Roll 400 on Sept. 6 at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway. "The Motorsports Soapbox," the personal blog of Motor Racing Network and Sirius Satellite Radio broadcaster Dave Moody is reporting that a source close to the team told him that that Logano will make 6-7 Sprint Cup Series starts before the end of the year with his debut coming at Richmond. Moody also reported that Logano would carry Gatorade sponsorship for the events. Bill Janitz, who handled public relations for Logano said nothing has been finalized concerning plans to run Logano in the Sprint Cup Series this season. "Can't confirm anything," Janitz said. Logano, 2007 Camping World East Series champion, was unavailable for comment. It is expected that Logano will see some starts this season in the Sprint Cup Series. Logano, who earlier this season became the youngster winner ever in NASCAR Nationwide Series history, is thought to be the frontrunner to replace Tony Stewart in the Joe Gibbs Racing No. 20 Home Depot Sprint Cup Series car.
