Regarding the loss of Manase Tonga... Lost in the conversation (at least I haven't seen much of it here) is that Manase played a different position than both Fui and Unga. Fui and Unga play HB. Tonga played FB, along with Semanoff. So much of the conversation here has been, "Well, we'll just plug in Fui for Tonga." Well, that doesn't work. Fui is an HB, DiLuigi is HB, Unga is HB. With both Semanoff and Tonga gone, we have no FB with ANY meaningful experience. I suspect that Latu will be plugged in at FB? But the fact that we have several HB's, does not take away the fact that we have no FB. And I seriously doubt that they will just move Fui over to FB. Its a completely different position and despite Fui's recent weight gain, I doubt they'll make Fui move permanently to FB. With his lack of blocking skills, he's certainly more suited as an HB. My point is that this is a more difficult problem than many here may think. Just b/c we have lots of capable hb's doesn't mean that we can just plug one of them into the fb position and feel good about it. ...
