A week after the death at age 93 of Richard Widmark, the man who directed him in one of his finest roles has died: Jules Dassin, the Connecticut kid who went on to work with Hitchcock and Burt Lancaster and wed the gorgeous Greek actress Melina Mercouri, has died at age 96.
