| Royal Bank of Canada has picked up five more senior bankers as it feasts on the bones of rivals who have suffered more from the global credit crunch. The latest hires arrive at Canada's biggest bank from UBS AG , the Swiss bank that has been hurt more than any bank in Europe from investments in structured products tied to the U.S. housing market. The new hires will join RBC's U.S.-based municipal finance housing capital group. "This was a terrific opportunity to recruit a talented team of seasoned professionals who we are confident will significantly expand our work with state housing finance agencies nationwide," said Chris Hamel, head of municipal finance for RBC Capital Markets. Michael Baumrin, one of the new hires, will be the new co-head of the Housing Finance group. Mr. Baumrin was formerly head of UBS' housing group. News of the appointments on Tuesday comes just a day after RBC announced it has hired former Bear Stearns executive Jim Wolfe as head of U.S. leveraged finance.
