An eight-year-old pupil had the chance to run his school for the day, after his mum won the privilege for him at an auction of promises. According to the North West Evening Mail, Jack Hampsey-Cook was an extremely proficient headteacher, as he led an assembly and a series of meetings at Elleray School in Windermere. 'I was quite nervous but also very excited. It has been really good and I would love to be a headmaster,' he told the paper. Part of the day involved a meeting with full-time headteacher at the school, Ben Freeman. The pair discussed future developments of the school building, as well as finances and the timetable for the next school year. Noting that a lot of the meetings 'are boring', Jack conceded that he loved the tea and biscuits on offer.
