When Bravo started promoting the fifth season of “Project Runway” last month, there was one thing clearly missing—the designers. The promos showed the competitors from every other year, but this year’s were never seen. Bravo said at the time that they were trying to protect their identities since they were still filming. But here we are a month later and still no contestant commercials, while “Shear Genius” and “Top Design” continue to air theirs. In fact, there are no opening credits featuring the designers—a “Runway” (and Bravo) tradition. So what gives? Could it be because the designers have zero personality? Let’s face it. Blayne can “holla at your boy” all he wants but he will never be as “fierce” as Christian. And Suede’s talking about himself in the third person is cute for a while, but it can get old really quickly. But you don’t need a personality to design well, right? Apparently, wrong, because the majority of the designers have produced only lackluster stuff so far. I said earlier that I hoped this would be the strongest season of “PR” yet. Sadly, I really don’t see that happening… Photo provided by Bravo ...
