Prof. John Cranfield will be featured on Global National Friday at 5:30 p.m. discussing results of a recent survey on the global food price crisis. Cranfield and Spencer Henson, both of the Department of Food, Agricultural and Resource Economics, conducted a survey on Canadian consumers' awareness and reaction to the global food price crisis. The recent survey will also be covered in Saturday's Toronto Star . Cranfield will be discussing the survey results on CBC Radio's Ontario Morning Monday at 6:40 a.m. The survey is one of the first to be produced as part of the Guelph Food Panel project, the first large-scale panel of consumers dedicated to food research. Developed by Henson, Cranfield and Prof. Oliver Masakure, the panel allows the researchers to survey participants within 24-hour's notice and to assess any changes in their responses over time. Also in the news a story in Thursday's Toronto Star features comments and research by Molecular and Cellular Biology Prof. Anthony Clarke. Clarke is involved in a U of G project to unlock the biofuels from the wasted biomass, which offers an alternative to using food crops to produce energy. In addition, U of G Integrative Biology Prof. Andrew MacDougall was featured in The New York Times this past weekend. MacDougall's studies on the effect of invasive species in British Columbia and Saskatchewan were highlighted in an article on plants, adaptation and climate change. ...
