A powerful car bomb detonated Wednesday outside a police station in northern Spain, killing one officer and wounding four, police said. Police blamed the militant Basque separatist group ETA for the attack. A van packed with explosives detonated before dawn outside a Civil Guard station that also houses officers and their families in Legutiano, a small town near the Basque capital, Vitoria, police said. Two officers were trapped inside the building, and one of them died, said an official with the Basque regional interior ministry. Three other officers were also wounded, the official said on condition of anonymity in line with department rules. Authorities did not receive a phone call before the explosion, the official said.
