Tommy Belcher has been golfing only three days, but he’s already done something most duffers only dream about. The Plymouth 10-year-old sank a hole-in-one. At the 16th hole of Plymouth’s Squirrel Run Golf Club on Tuesday, Tommy’s drive sailed 127 yards and dropped into the hole. “I just hit the ball, and it went on the green, bounced and stopped for a second and just rolled in,” said Tommy, who was as surprised as anyone at the shot. “He got lucky as heck,” said Tommy’s father, Tom Belcher. That kind of luck runs in the family. Tommy’s cousin, Kevin Gately, got a hole-in-one when he was 10 three years ago at Southers Marsh in Plymouth. After his cousin got a hole-in-one , Tommy wanted one, too. He applied for a Beverly Pierce Memorial Golf Scholarship, hoping to win a free week of golf lessons and a year of admission to the Squirrel Run and Southers Marsh courses. Tommy, along with nine other boys and girls, was awarded the scholarship, his father said. Tommy said he expects to play a lot more golf.
