It's live rock'n'roll madness over at Pitchfork.tv today. First up is a set from skronky Southern freaks Dark Meat who actually had enough people onstage at the Cake Shop at one point to be considered the fourth largest borough in New York City, just edging out Staten Island. The confetti and long hair is flying all over the place. Tel Aviv garage rockers Monotonix also rocked the Cake Shop, bringing with them gallons of perspiration and an enviably filthy guitar tone. Into the video archives today went the minor classic clip for Hercules & Love Affair's "Blind", one of the better songs of the year so far. Marc Hogan said of the clip when it first appeared on Forkcast: "Actress Jamie Winstone of 2006 UK film Kidulthood walks nervously up toward some people wearing vaguely Roman garb-- they're all surrounded by columns, anyway. As smoke obscures the actress' vision, a bacchanalian orgy takes place all around her, hearkening back to the pre-AIDS days of disco and places like the Continental Baths, where Larry Levan DJed and which advertisers promoted as recalling 'the glory of ancient Rome.'" More decadence is on display in the clip for Black Lips' "It Feels Alright", as they hit a Hotlanta strip club. And finally, a video for Super Furry dude Gruff Rhys' "Candylion", a tune we had On Repeat back in March of last year. ...
