The Bulletin’s redesign launched last week. It was the result of months of hard work, gathering input from the community and putting the ideas to paper. The response we have received about our paper’s new look, which started Wednesday, was overwhelmingly positive. But it did not come without a few glitches. So, quickly, here are the good, the bad and the ugly about the redesign. The good Jane Morlock of Oneco called to say she liked the new look, which includes more white space, larger type, bolder headlines and new features. She said she changed her morning habit a little to drink in the paper on Wednesday. “I enjoyed it so much I even had two cups of coffee because I didn’t want to miss anything,” she said. “It’s beautiful. It brought a whole new life to the paper.” We heard from folks from all over Eastern Connecticut who appreciated the changes, which included the focus on daily topics in the Living section, the Morning Minutes feature on page A2 and more. Mrs. Morlock’s response was in the vast majority. Of the dozens and dozens of people who contacted me, plus the folks in the community who talked to Bulletin employees in the newsroom and other departments, there were just a very few who said they didn’t like the redesign.
