Getting outstanding pitching and clutch hitting, the Oswego Pride 16-and-under girls fast-pitch softball team captured the playoff championship of the A&E Transport League on Tuesday. Regular-season champion Oswego edged fourth-seeded Phoenix 1-0 in the five-inning semifinal game, then got past third-seeded South Jefferson 4-1 in the seven-inning title contest at the Legends Softball Complex. Lauren Corradino was the winning pitcher in both games. She tossed a two-hitter in the opener, walking none and striking out six. Against South Jefferson, Corradino went six innings and allowed one run on four hits. She walked two, hit a batter, and struck out eight. Laura Miceli pitched a perfect seventh inning to preserve the win. Here are recaps of both games. Oswego 1, Phoenix 0: Phoenix, the only team to defeat the Pride during the regular season, gave Oswego another battle in the semifinals. Corradino and Phoenix pitcher Jill Murphy were dominant. Murphy finished with a one-hitter, no walks, and five strikeouts. Phoenix threatened in the top of the fourth. With one out, Murphy singled to left and Morgan Billingsley slapped a base hit to right.
