| Information regarding next exhibit at Strecker—Nelson Gallery: October 3 – November 15, 2008 – Lisa Lala: Birds on a Wire Opening Reception for the Artists: October 3, 2008, from 5 – 8 pm, at the Strecker—Nelson Gallery, 406½ Poyntz. The artists will be present. Lisa Lala: Birds on a Wire Manhattan—native Lisa Lala returns to the Strecker—Nelson with a new set of paintings on glass, and some larger pieces on canvas. It is certainly true that Lisa loves paint, generously and delightfully spreading it like frosting. Lisa says that these paintings, many of which incorporate images of birds on a wire, serve to … “be as a metaphor to remind myself of the importance of community. How we must choose to be together.” Yoshiro Ikeda, professor of ceramics at KSU and a ceramic artist who has shown at the gallery for many years, brings new work showcasing the hand—built forms he is well—known for. Combining surface with form his work continues to express the eternal challenge: balance, beauty and harmony. Other artists in the exhibit include Phyllis Pease, paintings; Linda Lighton, ceramic sculpture; Kathleen Shanahan, paintings; Janice Lee, color photographs, Guinotte Wise, metal sculpture; and Marc Berghaus, photography. Exhibit runs October 3 through November 15, 2008. The Gallery is located at 406½ Poyntz, Manhattan, and is open Monday through Saturday, 10 to 6.
