Hillary's frump-over and tough guy talk didn't cut it in North Carolina where she was trounced and not even in Indiana where she slid through to a narrow victory over Obama. The Desperate Democrat is history and her new incarnations only confused, disappointed and annoyed Democrats. Obama, on the other hand, stickhandled his preacher problem and retained his poise and dignity. The sooner Hillary leaves the race the better. She has soiled a process that is never clean but need not be dirty. The Democrats must now coalesce around the presumptive candidate as soon as possible in order to present a clear alternative to John McCain. Good news is that with Hillary, Bill and Carville out of the race, the two candidates can debate issues of substance and not have to repel the meddling of the powder blue pantsuit. Now Obama and McCain must select their running mates in coming weeks which will also be critical in differentiating the options available to voters. McCain must pick someone who is young to counterbalance his age challenge and Obama must pick someone with experience in foreign affairs. Obama has to wear a lapel pin.     ...
