Filed under: Barack Obama , 2008 President There's more than one or two similarities, as this YouTube points out: The celebrity aspect and the dissing of eloquence is pretty much spot on, as the knock on Reagan pretty much throughout his term was that he was all flash and no substance. Those relying on this line of attack might be wise to remember that. And while I think it's fun to point out the similarities, they're fudging on the experience aspect. By the time he had his successful run for the presidency in 1980, it had been sixteen years since he had entered the national scene due to a fantastic speech at the GOP national convention in 1964. From there he went to two terms as governor of the largest state in the union and an unsuccessful run for the presidency in 1976. And throughout this time he was quite free in his opinions about current events both foreign domestic. Staunch anti-communism was one of his signature pillars after all. With his brilliant communication skills alone, it was certain that Obama would be a contender on the national stage, the question is whether the Democrats have pushed him out there too early. If he loses this run, Hillary will get her chance in 2012 and the Democrats will lose the Obama cult perhaps forever.   Permalink  |  Email this  |  Linking Blogs  |  Comments ...
