We are excited to announce that we will now be carrying a selection of books from well known Vancouver area railway photographer Nils Huxtable (some with co-author Ron Zeil) as well as the 2009 Steamscenes 'Nils Huxtable's World of Steam' Calendar. Books include 'Steam Beneath the Red Star', a fascinating look a Soviet, Eastern European and other nations last days of steam; 'A World of Steam', a photo album of steam from around the world; and 'Seasons of Steam', a color pictorial of preserved British Steam. All books and the Steamscenes 2009 'World of Steam' calendar can be found under Misc/Other Manufacturers products (click here) NILS HUXTABLE was born in Neath, Wales in 1948. Fascinated by trains at an early age, he spent many hours lineside in former Great Western Railway territory, spotting" Steam locomotives. In 1957, his growing interest was interrupted by relocation to California, where the streamliners of Southern Pacific, Santa Fe and Union Pacific broadened his horizons. Summer holidays spent in Britain and on the Continent when thousands of steam engines were still active intensified the wanderlust. Graduating from Cal-State Long Beach in 1970 with a BA. degree in English, Nils made his first round-the-world trip in search of steam, which included the magnificent 4-8-4s on the Trans-Siberian.
