Newt Gingrich is in the house at the Texas Republican Convention in Houston. He had a few comments before his speech. See if you can pick up a trend here. "This is the biggest moment of change in American politics and government since Ronald Reagan," Gingrich said. "We have real change that has to occur," he contended. "We cannot in the long run compete with China unless fundamental change ..." he offered up. He used the C word nearly a half-dozen times. The manta of change - which Democrat Barack Obama has made the touchstone of his campaign - is everywhere this election year. In Gingrich's case, he's pressing change in American energy policy. He says Americans are angry over high gas prices and he has a solution: drill for oil in Alaska, the Atlantic and Gulf Coast as well as foster shale-oil development in the Rocky Mountains. "The problem is not big oil, the problem is not foreigners, the problem is not going and begging to the Saudis," he said. His group, American Solutions, is distributing stickers that say: "Drill Here. Drill Now. Pay Less." He's speaking to Republicans, but says energy independence transcends party. "It's not red vs. blue. It's red, white and blue." ...
