A website that has been operational for just more than 24 hours has seen so much traffic that it is hard to get on, called seethroughny.net. You can find out more than 200 thousand names and state salaries, as well as information about your local lawmakers expenditures, teacher contracts and more. "We are really happy with the response. It shows that New Yorkers really want to know how their government is operating," said Lise Bang-Jensen of the Empire center for New York State Policy. This quest for information comes at a time when the budget is in the forefront. The Governor is calling for cuts as the deficit is now over 6 billion dollars. But as the Governor calls for belt tightening, the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle is reporting that the Governor's staff has actually grown by six workers since Paterson took over for Eliot Spitzer. The report also says the number of employees in that office making more than 100 thousand dollars a year is up to 62 from 59 under Spitzer. Paterson's office says those numbers reflect a transition period when some of Spitzer's advisors were still there, providing them with vital information, and some are no longer there. "When all is said and done you will find that Governor Paterson is practicing what he is preaching right now.
