Ann Ciccarelli, funeral director at Bisbee-Porcella Funeral Homes of Revere and Saugus, was recently installed as the 2008-2009 president of the Massachusetts Funeral Directors Association, based in Weymouth, MA. The installation took place at MFDA’s Annual Meeting at the Ocean Edge Resort in Brewster. Ms. Ciccarelli has the distinction of being the first fourth-generation president of the Association. Her father, Paul Ciccarelli, grandfather, Arthur S. Porcella, and great grandfather, Michael J. Porcella, all preceded her. The Porcella Funeral Home was founded by a cousin in the North End of Boston in 1886. It was purchased by Ciccarelli’s great grandfather in 1901; her grandfather expanded the business to Revere in 1946 and her parents purchased the Saugus location in 1977. Ms. Ciccarelli is a graduate of Tower School in Marblehead and Revere High School. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Boston University College of Communications/Public Relations and also received a degree from FINE Mortuary College. She attended Endicott College School of Interior Design. She was formerly the Sports Marketing Director for Boston University’s Athletic Department, promoting football, basketball, hockey, women’s basketball and men's soccer.
