   For one couple renewing their vows meant not only aspiring to change their lives as a couple but making their lives more altruistic.   Michael and Victoria Abend, of Wayland, decided that they needed to do something different with their lives. Michael wasn’t happy with his consulting business and Victoria was tired of being a stay-at –home mom.   When the opportunity came for them to open an Extended Family in Wayland, they leapt at the chance.    "We heard about (Extended Family) in February through an old college roommate of mine and we were committed," Michael said. "It’s a business that makes us feel good about what we’re doing."   They opened a business that services Wayland, Wellesley, Weston, Natick, Framingham, Lincoln and Sudbury and provides  an alternative to putting loved ones in nursing homes and assisted living facilities.   "Our mission is to help the elderly age in a place with a healthy environment," he said. "We do anything they need to help them stay in their homes."   The staff includes registered nurses and handymen, who have their cell-phones on them at all times in case there is an emergency in the house.   "We’re essentially the distant nephew," Michael said laughing.
