| Sixty-three years ago today, we used the ultimate weapon of mass destruction, dropping the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. We dropped another on Nagasaki. We remain the only country to have done such a thing. A group that wants it to remain that way will gather at 6:30 tonight at the University of South Carolina. "Dropping nuclear weapons should never occur again," said Cassandra Fralix, one of the organizers of the march from the State House to USC. The Religious Society of Friends, Carolina Peace Resource Center, The Women in Black and the Christian Action Council of S.C. will participate in the low-key vigil. "That's not to take issue with the U.S. for dropping the bomb," Fralix said. "It's just to say that this is a horrendous event, just that we don't want anyone to repeat it, to remind people something horrible has occurred." ... |
