The Network Architecture Manager is responsible for the overall planning and maintenance of the Fairfield University data and communication networks. Hires, trains and supervises a small group of network support staff and voice communications staff. Is responsible for creating new policy guidelines for proper network utilization as well as providing and exploring, new innovative solutions to best support the computing and technology needs of the university. Leadership objectives include developing a “client-centric” business environment, facilitating a philosophy of constant improvement both in service delivery and staff skills; enhancing staff coordination and interaction with other units within Computing and Network Services and Fairfield University; participating in leadership meetings and major department decisions; and fostering collaborative teamwork, responsibility and accountability within the staff. The applicant is expected to emphasize a facilitation model of leadership, where decision-making and accountability at the level where the work is done is encouraged, the development of a service culture and team performance is rewarded, and where integration of voice and data operations must be accomplished. Network and Infrastructure technical personnel are increasingly required to become generalists who step outside of traditional, narrowly defined job descriptions in support of team and institutional objectives.
