NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Natural gas shares led gains in the energy sector on Thursday. The Amex Natural Gas Index rose 1% to 672. The Amex Oil Index rose 0.2% to 1,409. BP was upgraded to overweight from neutral at HSBC. Shares rose 14 cents to $64.59. PetroQuest drew an upgrade to buy from neutral at UBS. Shares rose 7% to $23.67. Marathon Oil fell 1.4% to $47.14.
