| An armed man gave himself up peacefully Monday night after an hours-long standoff with police on the New York State Thruway, a Buffalo TV station reported.The incident left hundreds of vehicles backed up in both directions, WKBW-TV reported. Nearby boats also were cleared away from the vicinity by the U.S. Coast Guard.WKBW said the incident, which began just after 6 p.m. near the Ontario Street exit along the southbound lanes of the Niagara section of the 190 highway, apparently began after a domestic situation led a woman to jump out of the man's pickup truck.
