New Jersey's new comptroller is on the prowl.
Comptroller Matthew Boxer says his office is directing more than 1,900 government entities to detail planned public contracts.
Boxer took office in January. His new office is expected to prevent wasteful government spending and has authority to audit contracts and even halt them.
He says his effort marks a new level of oversight in New Jersey.
But he also says it's "patently absurd" to have nearly 2,000 government entities in the state doling out contracts. ...
