The McCain camp made a clumsy swipe at Obama Wednesday, trying to link him with vapid "hollywood types" like Britney Spears when, really, it's McCain who is the Britney candidate. In a 2003 interview with CNN's Tucker Carlson , Spears argued that we should trust president Bush and have faith that he'll do what's right in Iraq. CARLSON: You're going to be on the National Mall [in Washington, D.C.] soon performing for Pepsi and the NFL and also to support our troops. A lot of entertainers have come out against the war in Iraq. Have you? SPEARS: Honestly, I think we should just trust our president in every decision he makes and should just support that, you know, and be faithful in what happens. CARLSON: Do you trust this president? SPEARS: Yes, I do. Well, in 2008, which candidate has more in common with Britney? Let's see. In March 2008, President Bush gave McCain an unreserved endorsement . The Boston Globe's headline read "Bush says McCain will stay the course in Iraq." In 2007, noted the New York Times , Mr. McCain methodically dismissed as unrealistic every other plan that has been proposed by Democrats as a substitute for Mr. Bush's strategy, including those from Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, Joseph R.
