Hey, for all you guys who wanted the Cubs to sign Jim Edmonds: Your wishes do indeed have consequences. Because Edmonds got signed, Felix Pie got sent down to Iowa. To make room for Felix Pie in Iowa, BCB favorite scrappy/hunky/Jewish (whichever you prefer) center fielder Sam Fuld got sent down to Tennessee.
I hope you're all happy.
By the way, Kyler Burke got returned to extended spring training. Maybe the Padres knew something when they gave up on him
Iowa Cubs
The I-Cubs fell to the Round Rock Express, 5-4.
Rich Hill did exactly what we didn't want to see out of him and gave up walks and home runs. Hill lasted only 2.2 innings and allowed three runs on three walks and two hits, one of which was a solo home run. Hill struck out two.
[ Edit: cwyers is reporting that Hill was pulled with an injury. I suspected that from the box score.]
It is now Day 40 of the hostage crisis where crazed Brewer fans have taken Neal Cotts and Jose Ascanio hostage and forced them to pitch for the I-Cubs. There hasn't been any news coverage of it, but it's the only reason I can figure that the two of them are in Des Moines and not in Wrigley. Cotts struck out two and allowed one hit in a scoreless inning and Ascanio struck out two and walked one in two scoreless innings.
Shortstop Luis Figueroa went 3 for 4 with an RBI. Micah Hoffpauir didn't hit a home run, breaking his three game streak, but went 1 ... |
