ANN ARBOR -- A new report says Michigan's long economic skid is slowly coming to a halt. The University of Michigan study says the state will realize a slight gain of some 30-thousand jobs, but only after another 89-thousand jobs disappear this year and in 2009. Economists first predicted Michigan would come out of its financial slumber and see a small net jobs gain in '09. However, soaring food and energy prices and consumer automotive changes to smaller vehicles have extended the misery. The report says a strengthening national economy in 2009 and 2010 will factor in the the state's economic recovery. ...
