Michelle Obama has become her husband's surrogate to the gay community, and she was a big part of our decision to endorse Barack Obama for President. Reaching out once again to the LGBT community, Michelle has penned an editorial for The Advocate. In her op-ed piece, Mrs. Obama calls for the gay community to get behind her husband. "...we still have more work to do before we achieve equality for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender Americans," she writes. The potential first lady makes it very clear that Barack Obama is the only choice to help further gay rights. "Election Day offers an opportunity to take another crucial step toward equality," Mrs. Obama added. "Millions have joined this movement for change. People are hoping again -- believing again -- that we can come together to create a stronger, fairer nation. And on November 4 we’ll have a chance to put that hope into action."
