| The Guardian is claiming one Tory compared Boris Johnson's London Assembly election victory with Mussolini's march on Rome in 1922. After Bush's election, Berlin saw an influx of abhorred Americans. Apparently , t here are now 12700 US citizens living here (and 9300 Brits). So I'm expecting all those people who are worried at the prospect of London experiencing its very own Il Duce will soon be moving away. And what better place than here? Surely most of them know someone who's bought into the local housing market already - although prices will no doubt take a further leap now. I hope at least some wily entrepreneur will open a decently-priced Marmite and PG Tips shop like there used to be here back when Berlin was full of British builders. Despondently yours, kjd ... |
