MACEDON — While the town undergoes an overhaul of its Web site, the police department is also taking a step forward into the digital age. Town Board members earlier this month discussed a proposal for the police department to purchase a new computer — an HP ProLiant ML 150 G5 Hot Plug SAS/SATA, for the tech-savvy — at a cost of no more than $3,900. The money will come from the Wayne County’s Federal Drug Seizure account. According to Macedon Police Chief John Colella, software secured from a $55,000 grant will be installed on the server. The purchase will also allow the department to upgrade its current setup of individual personal computers for a networked office. “It would be a nice complement,” Colella told the board. In other action this month, the board: • Approved a motion to end police officer Earl Lergner IV’s probationary period and increase his pay to $20.11 per hour. • Held a public hearing to discuss changes in town zoning. “The changes deal with setback requirements, details for the application process and allowed uses,” said Town Supervisor William Hammond.
