Marion has a 1st Round tie with Akgul Amanmuradova of Uzbekistan on Monday evening, EST. There have been no previous meetings between Super Marion and the pride of Tashkent. but, at 6'3" and the tallest player on the tour, it isnt rocket science to know that there will be more than a few jet-propelled first serves heading Marion's way later tonight on Stanford Campus. Amanmuradova is 24 years old and just 10 weeks older than Marion. She has reached one tour final, in her home country, and achieved her highest career ranking of 50 in May. Her best slam results are two 2nd round finishes at the French and Australian Open. She has never reached the main draw of the US Open. However she did see off homegirl Bethanie Mattek on a hardcourt surface to reach the semi final of Cincinnati last year. No 1st round bye this time around for Marion due to the slip in ranking.
