The full time MBA cohort recently enjoyed their study visit to Budapest which forms an important part of the year long course.
Led by the MBA Award tutor Paul Davies along with Gabor Hovarth (Research Fellow), Shirley Cole and Sian Hill (Postgraduate Administrators) the visit once again proved to be an informative opportunity to consider business practice and economic themes via a mix of industry visits and guest speakers.
As with previous visits to cities such as Warsaw and Prague the week offers students, particularly from the mix of international countries, an insight into a different European culture.
As ever, the industry visits provided a chance for students to consider the varied themes of modules studied in a practical context. Two companies; the Hungarian owned Zwack distillery and the Danish owned Grundfos presented differing aspects of business practice and were fascinating examples for the students to compare to their own industrial experience.
Along with the industry visits the students also enjoyed a guest talk from Professor Péter Ákos Bod, Head of Economic Policy Department at Corvinus University and a former Minister of Trade and Industry in the first government after the fall of the communist regime. Professor Bod gave a fascinating lecture on the background and implications of the economic challenges facing Hungary to an audience that also included Hungarian MBA students.
