"She has this really relaxed, nonchalant style without being overtly sexy, which is very sexy," explains Tina Lutz who, along with Marcia Patmos, founded the label in 2000 and can already name the likes of Christy Turlington, Carine Roitfeld, Liv Tyler, Kirsten Dunst and Sofia Coppola among its seasonal collaborators. According to WWD Lutz and Birkin discussed design ideas at the actress' Paris apartment in May, with her choosing an Italian-made organic cashmere for a knitted scoop neck vest with crochet details. Also included in the line is a wide V-neck with a raw-edge neckline, which Lutz describes as "a cool little sweater that can fall over one shoulder". While neither a launch date nor price points for the Birkin line have yet been announced, Lutz & Patmos has stamped its final seal of approval on its mainline spring/summer 2009 collection, which will be presented as part of New York Fashion Week on September 9.
