1. The details: The annual battle of the blues bands, put on by the Wichita Blues Society, is in its eighth year and will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Sam's Place, 5521 W. Kellogg. Admission is $5, or $3 for Blues Society members. 2. The contest: Five local bands will play for 25 minutes each, vying for a $1,000 prize and the right to compete in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in February. Three blues experts from around the region, including a couple of festival organizers, will determine the winner. 3.
