| Wichita State's Mica Land finished 10th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase Friday at the NCAA Championships. Land, a senior from Andover, finished with a time of 10 minutes, 2.28 seconds _ the exact same as her qualifying time on Wednesday. Colorado's Jenny Barringer won the event, finishing in 9:29.20 and breaking the collegiate record she set last September by 4.75 seconds. It was also the fifth-fastest time in the world this year. "I'm just gritty, but I love the competition," Barringer said. "It takes a tough woman to do it." Kansas had two athletes post top-five finishes. Senior Egor Agafonov took third in the men's hammer with a throw of 229 feet, 5 inches. Nickesha Anderson was fourth in the women's 100 with a time of 11.37. LSU's Kelly-Ann Baptiste won the 100 in 11.2. ... |
