Its anti-toff attacks on Edward Timpson might be considered rather vile if they were not such a mark of desperation, and thus unintentionally amusing. They may also backfire. Timpson appears to be a thoroughly decent man with parents who fostered more than 80 children. He has a very nice house but then so does Gordon Brown, who gets Chequers for free, and cabinet members don’t exactly go to bed every night in council flats.
