It was a Bug Juice Jamboree at Camp Bugaboo Wednesday evening at Bradford Memorial Library. The camp was hosted by Thad Beach, singer and storyteller, complete with bug juice, flying insects and a good time. "What is the purpose of a bugaboo?" Beach asked the group of children for the performance. He sang a number of songs about bugs and camp bugaboo, with a little help from the audience. The song selection included such favorites as "How to Scare a Bug From Under the Rug," "Ants in Your Pants" and "Fly Swatter Philharmonic Orchestra," in which the kids helped play fly swatters for the song. It also was educational. Those attending learned what to do if they got a cookie crumb stuck in their ear and an ant crawled in to get it. Beach told them to shine a flashlight in the other ear and it will crawl out. He then asked what to do if the cookie crumb was stuck in the other ear, to which the kids answered shine the flashlight in the other ear. The final scenario was a cookie stuck in both ears. The solution. Shine two flashlights up one's nose and the ants crawl out the nose. The evening concluded with a song about the old lady who swallowed a fly, with the camp counselor pulling items out of her mouth which she swallowed. There also was a drawing for a door prize at the end of the event. ... |
