A Private Hospital Association (PHA) study in Jordan has reported that over 250,000 patients from around 84 Arab and foreign countries were treated in Jordanian private hospitals, clinics and medical centres last year, Jordan Times has reported. The PHA has cited World Bank medical tourism experts ranking Jordan as number one in the Arab region and the fifth in the world as a medical tourism hub. The sector has seen a steady 10% increase of foreign patients annually since 2004, with Iraqi patients topping the chart in 2007 at 45,000, followed by Palestine, and Sudan. More than 1,800 US citizens, 1,200 UK citizens and 400 Canadian citizens were also noted for medical treatment last year. [AMEInfo.com] ...
