The death of Kentucky Derby runner-up Eight Belles has the thoroughbred industry taking a closer look at equine safety. The Jockey Club on Thursday announced it is forming a committee to review every aspect of horse health, ranging from breeding to medication to racing surfaces. A seven-member committee will include Dr. Larry Bramlage, who was the on-track vet at Churchill Downs during the Derby. Its first meeting will be Wednesday.
