It has to be heat - and a wire affected by heat Problem with AT&T DSL - Mount Vernon, IL 62864 I've managed to join as a Premium member and I would be grateful if the experts here could address my questions below labeled (a) (b) (c) etc. About two weeks ago the DSL service at my parent's home started to degrade, according to their complaints to me by phone, and has only become much worse. Now that I have visited their home and diagnosed the problem for 12 hours myself with a different ethernet adapter on a different computer, I'm pretty perplexed. My parents' initial complaint was that their computer was slow, so I hooked up to them a week ago with Windows Remote Assistance and did a thorough examination finding no problems with the Windows installation nor the machine's speed -- but rather, with their DSL connection speed. At that time (two weeks ago) they were not getting more than 300 kbps and their service should be at 1500 kbps. I should mention that they have had a very good DSL connection for more than 24 months at the same location, same equipment, etc. Two years with almost no connection problems, and in fact an excellent dependable connection, and then ... I asked them to call AT&T at the time, but they did not do so, you know older parents being intimidated by technical stuff.
