This announcement came into our inbox the other day and I thought it to be a very interesting lineup for a new festival set in Des Moines, IA over Fourth of July weekend. The 80/35 Music Festival is what it's called, and they managed to get The Flaming Lips, The Roots, Drive-By Truckers, and a bunch more seriously solid artists to play on the bill in their first year. Not bad. Given the flooding and recent troubles that a lot of Iowa had to go through with the storms and the unruly Mississippi River, we hope this will be something to help the residents of Iowa and other nearby Midwestern states get through the cleanup effort. The inaugural 80/35 music festival is July 4 and 5 in downtown Des Moines' Western Gateway Park.
