| The Heffron family hopes they will have a lot to celebrate once the SC State Junior Hardcourt Championships have finished on Wednesday. Daniel Island’s Randall Jr. and Walker Heffron advanced to the semifinals in the boys 18 singles and boys 16 singles divisions, respectively, after wins on Monday. Randall, the No. 1 seed in the boys 18 singles, defeated Jack West 6-2, 6-4 at the Columbia Tennis Center in the quarterfinals. Last year, he was the champion in the boys 16s. Randall’s victory against the fifth-seeded West came after a one-and-a-half-hour rain delay three games into the second set. West of Greenwood, was visibly frustrated after the rain delay despite tying the second set at four games a piece. West, 17, said he had “kind of a rough day” and that Randall kept him off his best game. ... |
