Ryan Hart is making the jump from  junior high basketball coach at Lombard to the sophomore coach at Galesburg High School. Just last week, Hart took a group of his soon-to-be players over to Williamsfield for a game against Brimfield. The eight-player squad featured Aslyn Butler, Robert Jackson, Ryan McElmurray, Brandon Meeker, Logan Scott, Andrew Steck, Chad Thompson and Garrett Williams. No scorebook was kept. However, it was a time to get an early glimpse to see what the future looks like for Silver Streaks boys basketball. Coach Hart then answered a couple of questions. Q: Have any kids really stepped up washave impressed you? HART: “They’ve all done a decent job of doing individual things and better than what they had been doing before they came to camp. We only have two offenses in — three if you count our zone offense. We haven’t practiced it. I just draw it up and show them what to do. So, they are not really familiar with the new stuff that coach (Mike) Reynolds is implementing in what we are trying to do. For the most part, they hustle. We might have a minute or two lapse but they do a decent job of trying to do what they’re supposed to do. And, I think they understand that there are a couple of those freshmen who can play, too. So, it’s pretty competitive. And, they all pretty much have a decent shot at playing varsity ball this year.” Q: What are you trying to accomplish this summer as the sophomore basketball coach ...
